The group of women from Suez rolled up their sleeves with other volunteers to install insulation and a house wrap, along with painting on the outside.
The Bergenfield house is destined for the Pimentel family, who also have come out to help at the construction site. The 1,900-square-foot house is being built with energy-efficient features, officials said.
“There is no question that helping to create a decent home for a family is a significant act of giving, but our volunteers typically find that they receive something in return that is even more valuable: a feeling of satisfaction and a connection to other people,” said Sonja Clark, director of community relations at Suez and Habitat Bergen board member.
Habitat officials sais Suez employees have been working on Habitat projects for a long time. Habitat builds or rehabilitates single-family houses and sells them at cost for low-income families.
“Suez has been a key community partner of Habitat Bergen for many years, and we admire the strength, generosity, and can-do attitude of the women at Suez who volunteer with Women Build and lead by example,” said Angela King, Habitat Bergen’s director of volunteers and Women Build Committee chair.
